Decan political art 1: this is the sign at the town limits. As in Peje and elsewhere, the Serbian language has been erased from public life; this act reveals the strength of feeling that maintains the current tensions.

  1. In the Jewish quarter of the old town of Jerusalem, the Arabic-language names have been vandalised on 'the vast majority' of street signs.

    According to archaeologist and student of iconoclasm Troels Myrup Kristensen, '[t]his is only partially an act of erasure, and just as much part of an on-going negotiation between regional politics and the local environment of the streets'.
